Solution-focused therapy is a way of thinking, form of talk therapy aimed at strengthening your autonomy, through a pragmatic approach .

It focuses on the solution rather than the problem.

The starting point is that it is not always necessary to have an understanding of the origins of problems in order to solve them.

As a therapist, I stimulate you with arousal towards a different insight to imagine a better future in which the problem resolves itself.

During the sessions, you are encouraged to think of and try out solutions yourself. Of course, there is also a focus on acknowledging the problems you are facing and on recognising and further developing your strengths and positive qualities.

Sessions can be held in Dutch, French and/or English.

Solution-focused working is a methodology that is proven effective and suitable for youth, adults and couples.

At an initial contact, I explain what to expect, the method and the solution techniques available to achieve your goals.

Research shows that solution-focused therapy is as effective as other forms of treatment. On top of that, this treatment method makes it possible to take steps in the right direction in a shorter time. This usually ensures a fairly high satisfaction rate.

Sometimes we speak of " BRIEF THERAPY " it is a process of evolution but one goes to the essential concerning what one wishes to clarify and resolve.

During our talks, you will have the opportunity to actively think along: how can you set up your desired future in the best and quickest way possible?

What are the priorities ? What are the problems ?
What would the other person like to achieve? What is difficult? What is already going well?

Are they real problems or maybe there are others?

Plotting the first steps towards the goal to be achieved is more important than diagnosing. It is a process and during your change process you will be guided and encouraged.

Then we look for small, achievable steps you can take to reach your desired objective-ven as quickly as possible. As a therapist, I adapt to give you the time you need. The aim is to bring you to the surface in your own strength, allowing one to perceive changes.

After all, we mainly talk about inner strengths and solutions, rather than shortcomings and problems.

During this process, you also look for solutions consciously and unconsciously during our conversations but also outside your therapy session, you will experience them yourself on a daily basis.

You will notice that as soon as you achieve (small) successes, you have the power within yourself to shape your own life.

By asking the right questions, I help you with various therapeutic techniques* to guide you back on your own path as soon as possible.

The atmosphere in solution-focused work is informal, serious and with room for self-development in which one can find humanistic values : freedom, responsibility, justice and appreciation of the power of diversity.

Solution-focused therapy is built from the principles of cognitive, solution-focused system therapy, this is also called 'leading from one step behind' this approach is a way of working that aims to strengthen the autonomy of the person to be guided.

Some principles are:

  • If something has worked once, do it more often.
    Change is inevitable.
    Pragmatic approach
Small changes can have a big impact.
    Resource-oriented thinking
    Positive and behavioural change
Talking about difficulties becomes talking about opportunities.
